WARDEN MESSAGE:
U.S. Consulate General Nuevo Laredo has issued an urgent warning to all Americans living or traveling to the area. We have confirmed the Intel from our agents on the ground in Mexico.
We have credible reports of widespread violence occurring now between narcotics trafficking organizations and the Mexican army in Nuevo Laredo. We have verified intel of grenades and other heavy weapons being used. The Narco groups have blocked some major streets and intersections and are carjacking vehicles. The surrounding area is very dangerous and fluid so if you are in the area stay inside and if you are planning on traveling to this area, don’t until the situation is dealt with by the Army.
I have been working in Mexico for over 30 years and never thought I would be advising people to stay out of Mexico. Some of my greatest memories are from Mexico with my many close friends there in nights of food, music and family.
